Koepe hoist

The KOEPE hoist, developed by Friedrich Koepe in the 19th century, revolutionized hoisting technology. Based on the friction drive principle, it enables more efficient and safer hoisting. Since its introduction, the KOEPE hoist has been continuously developed and is now an indispensable component of modern mining operations. KOEPE hoisting systems use friction pulleys with linings to transfer the rotational movement of the pulley to the hoisting ropes. Unlike drum hoists, where ropes are wound onto drums, in KOEPE hoists the ropes wrap around the pulleys at an angle of up to 200 degrees. Balance ropes increase the friction force and thereby the traction capacity. They provide load equalization and create a closed system, significantly reducing the required drive power.

Technical features:

  • High payload and operating loads,
  • Powerful drives,
  • Energy-efficient,
  • Single- or multi-rope systems,
  • Easy installation and maintenance,
  • Available in floor-mounted or tower-mounted configurations,
  • Plain or rolling bearing shaft supports.

KOEPE hoisting systems provide an efficient and maintenance-friendly solution for mining, convincing with their high productivity.
